Can anyone tell me how it’s already August? That is crazy!!
We received this update from our farmers this week. As you can tell from the list below the melons were in fact ready for this week!
The sweet corn should be ready in a week and we are anticipating a bumper crop of squash this season. We planted extra spaghetti squash and acorn squash that should be ready by the second half of August. Tomatoes are ripening in the hoop houses and will soon be starting outdoors too. I can see peppers growing and the early melons aren’t too far away.
This weeks bin contained
- 3 summer squash
- 1 cucumber
- 1 quart of beans
- 1 quart of potatoes
- Mesclun mix or head lettuce
- 2 onions
- 1 quart of tomatoes
- 1 head of garlic
- Broccoli
- 2 melons- there was a wide variety of melons we got today so you may have something you’ve never tried before.
- Kale
- Herb: parsley
